About Areg Aragil
Areg Aragil is the solo project of Armenian underground musician, conceptual producer, and sound artist Areg Arakelyan. Emerging as a spin-off following his work with the experimental outfit Les Magnifiques, Aragil’s solo endeavors shift the focus toward an intensely private, minimalist realm of ASMR poetry, whispering vocals, and cinematic introspection.
Arakelyan’s path in Yerevan’s underground scene traces back to the early 2000s as an active musician in local punk bands. In 2004, he co-founded the seminal experimental project LSD, which evolved into the LSD Sound Art union (2012) and later rebranded as the LSD Sound-Out Club (2017–2019) alongside Vardan Sargsyan (Duke/Guru). Throughout the 2010s, he was involved in musical projects like Varakvatz, International Monks, computer84, and Sonic Tuf, alongside Anguyn Tsiatsan—conceived as poetry in action.
Beyond music, Arakelyan co-founded the bjij (Cell) art gallery and created the subcultural platform Pnti Khoghovak (Scruffy Pipe), producing show formats like Pnti Podcast and Muzaghats on BOON TV. This ethos expanded into PntiMusic, an underground DIY label preserving Armenian subcultural history, including the 2000s Armenian punk anthology on cassette and 2010s sound art on CD.
Rooted in analog cassette aesthetics, French New Wave vibes, and raw vulnerability, Areg Aragil strips away musical grandiosity. His debut solo video release, "Mon artiste favori", uses sparse lighting and projected memory to create a deeply intimate audio-visual monologue.
